USA Flag

By Guest Blogger: Jeanine Jackson

Note: This speech literally came to my wife of over thirty years, Jeanine, in a dream. She awoke and wrote it down. Pass this along to your family and friends, it's a message that needs to be heard in this crucial time!

Government didn't rush into a burning and falling structure on 911 and risk its life to rescue, Americans did.

Government didn't provide those healing embraces to the hurting moms, dads, children and friends of those who lost loved ones that fateful day, Americans did.

Government doesn't rush from work to sit in the stands to cheer their young ball players on the field, or attend a recital, or take their child to Karate, soccer practice, or drum lesson, but Americans do.

Government doesn't sit in gross anatomy lab learning how to diagnose, or push through nights on call with no sleep, or tell a patient that cancer will take their life, or decide when to call off a code blue, but Americans do.

Government doesn't wake up in the middle of the night to nurse a sick child, smoothing their hair back with a cool rag as they burn with fever while making the tough decision when to seek a physician's help, but Americans do.

Government doesn't get teary-eyed when it pledges allegiance to "Old Glory" or  cheer when it hears the refrain, "Ore the land of the free and the home of the brave," but Americans do.

Government doesn't sacrifice the niceties of life so its child can be outfitted for school, or attend the school prom, or participate in the individual dream of its child, but Americans do.

Government doesn't struggle and strategize to make life better for its future generations, but Americans do.

Government doesn't instill the American identity of hard work, values, and service into the DNA of its citizens, but Americans do. In their homes, in classrooms, in church and community activities.

We the people.

We are the Americans on the ground floor of our homes and communities with passion and personal investment.

And as Americans we are the ones who choose someone who will lead "we the people" to ensure that the principles of our American identity are carried into future generations.

We the people can vote for a leader who, like us, grew up loving red white and blue, a leader who, like us and the brave ones before us, will defend and protect our American way of life.

Because that is what Americans do.
