Paris 2015–such a tragedy. At times like this, I wonder if there's any benefit from adding my thoughts, since so many have said things that have needed to be said - the political and military actions that might have made this terrible event less likely, but have not to this point been implemented. So then, beyond the political and military, perhaps I might add, or reinforce, the challenge each and all of us face who believe in the goodness and sovereignty of God, who believe in the importance of our prayers, who believe in loving "our neighbor" whatever their belief or conduct, and yet are called to condemn evil, whether housed in "our neighbor", or even within ourselves. Our prayers feel so small at times. And even Scripture promises (warns) that in the "end times", before the "great and terrible Day of the Lord", there will be "wars, and rumors of wars", and that "spiritual darkness" will advance in the earth. Do our little prayers matter? Do our declarations of trust in, and fidelity to, our God of ultimate love really have an impact?
Even in the face of "Paris", I will declare, that YES! - we matter, our prayers and our faith and our declarations DO matter, and do have an impact for good. We are not promised that we will see, in this lifetime, the positive results of our faith, but we are called to rest securely in the knowledge that we are a part of a great multitude, a great "cloud of witnesses" to the reality of a very good God Who loves His creation, Who has has sacrificed His Son to redeem and restore us, and Who is moving even now towards the day of full restoration for the Eden that humanity gave away. I don't know much about the details of HOW our prayers and faith and declarations are used by God - but I know they ARE used, powerfully! So lets encourage each other to stand, to believe, to declare, to FIGHT - "the good fight of faith"! And together we will see the goodness of the Lord in this world advance.
Blessings always,
Ricky
