As my political party struggles to deal with their presidential electoral loss, I would remind the leadership to avoid learning the wrong lessons. This quote is as applicable today as when it was spoken: “I am impatient with those Republicans who, after the last election, rushed into print saying, ‘we must broaden the base of our party,’ when what they meant was to fuzz up and blur even more the differences between ourselves and our party.” - Ronald Reagan

We need to encourage principled conservatives to learn, as Reagan did, how to speak passionately and persuasively about the things we believe in, why those ideas and policies will best lift all the people of our land, and will bring real hope, and real healing. Capitulation will not only work for winning elections (“liberal-light” has little appeal to the majority we need to reach), but is cowardly and a dereliction of our duty to truth.

God bless always,
Ricky Lee Jackson
