As I open my Facebook page, I am asked, "What's on your mind?" I suppose I should thank Facebook for that pleasant invitation to share, but I'm afraid the folks at Facebook will rarely like what's on my mind. Facebook is a multibillion dollar enterprise, here by the grace of God and capitalism, which has created more wealth, more good, for more human beings than other any system man has tried before or since. It is a system rooted in good, in liberty, in being rewarded for providing a good (a thing) or service that others find they want or need, and providing that good or service as an option to be procured, not a thing to be forced upon one's fellows. I don't have to use Facebook, but I choose to (on occasion!). I'm not bothered at all that Facebook is worth billions - enough of us must think it's worth that much since we keep using it...My issue with Facebook and so many successful businesses and individuals is that they seem to want to use capitalism and liberty to "make it", and then curse the very principles that allowed them to succeed and improve the lives of so many (here with the Facebook example, I may be taking some liberty in that description..). Their support for left-wing political parties and candidates, their support for those whose voices are constantly bashing liberty, their support of those who advocate for bigger and more suffocating government - serves only to make it less likely that some other person or group of persons (a company or corporation) with a willingness to "risk it all" on their own new idea, or service, or product, will be able to come along and succeed as the current giants like Facebook have done. Liberty and free markets, in a word, capitalism, has done more for this hurting world in the last 230 years than all the top-down economic systems had done in all of prior human history. And in the years since our nation was founded on the principles of God-given liberty, and equal standing of all citizens for the law, socialism in all its forms (including Marxism, National Socialism, and communism) have all failed. And any semblance of success seemingly evident in these systems has been to the degree that they “allowed” some iteration of capitalism. This year, as in most election years, we are once again faced with the choice of whether to advance God-based liberty and true “progress” of the human condition, or to advance the false “progressivism” trumpeted by big players like “Facebook” and their friends on the left, which ensures the decline of liberty, the decline of a civil society, and a decline in the living standards for all.

May God bless us with His grace and wisdom,
