Dear Friends,

The following is a message I was privileged to share at a Thanksgiving gathering where the community was invited to share a sumptuous Thanksgiving meal, compliments of Galeotti's Restaurant, Rotary International, and Wild Branch Christian Ministries:
Our first president––George Washington––asked that we Americans set aside a day to remember the provisions, the kindness of God––that All good things come from Him––and to say “Thank You” to God. This celebration of “Thanksgiving” is more than just a time to have a great meal–it's a time to truly BE grateful––for life, for relationships, for God's grace the covers all our weaknesses and mistakes. In my life, God has shown me that a key to peace and joy in life, is to choose to be grateful––no matter the circumstance. And in fact, the most difficult and seemingly hopeless times in my life have ended up being opportunities––to believe in what isn't obvious (a gift of faith). It is in these times that I have been taught most profoundly the truth that I am ALWAYS , fully loved by, and dependent on, God–for every breath I take, for every moment of time I have. And the other thing I have found most profoundly in the times of greatest challenge, is that I ALWAYS have something to give out–even in my times of relative poverty. It may be just a smile, a word of encouragement, a hug––and it might be sharing what little physical or monetary resource I have left at the time. You and I were created in God's image, and like Him, we were made to GIVE, to be generous with whatever we have. So I would encourage each of us to actively seek out ways to pass on this love, this grace--these precious gifts that we've been given! Let's make this Thanksgiving season, truly, a time of Thanksgiving–starting in our own hearts, knowing this spirit of gratitude cannot be contained and WILL beautifully impact the hurting world around us!
Thank You, Lord! And may God bless us––everyone!
